Rail union members across London’s Underground and Overground networks are preparing for weekend strike action.

This morning, rail union RMT confirmed that Overground security staff will be taking strike action on Saturday, November 3, in a dispute over contract terms and conditions.

RMT members voted unanimously in favour of industrial action earlier this week and on Saturday STM Security Group employees will set up a picket line at Camden Road.

Having completed a 24-hour strike at 6am this morning, Tube Lines engineers, who are responsible for maintenance and upgrade work on the Jubilee line, Northern line and Piccadilly line, have also refused to do any over time until November 5 in a dispute over pensions.

Commenting on the Tube Lines strike, RMT general secretary Bob Crow said: “RMT members have delivered a massive mandate and rock-solid action following a straightforward demand for parity with other Tube staff.

“This dispute is about justice and about ensuring that all groups of staff under the umbrella of London Underground receive the same rights and benefits and our members have no choice but to strike to secure those basic rights.

“The union remains ready to talk, and the strong mandate for this industrial action and the strength of feeling amongst our members shows Tube Lines and TfL the depth of anger there is over this blatant lack of fairness and justice.”
