Eurostar to trial new services to south of France

Eurostar is trialling a new high-speed services to Lyon and Aix-em-Provence next spring.

The new weekly service, which will run between May and June, will add the new destinations to existing direct service from London to Avignon.

Passengers will be able to travel direct from London St Pancras or Ashford International to Lyon, before continuing to Avignon and Aix-en-Provence.

The return journey will stop at Lille Europe for security and passport checks.

Nick Mercer, commercial director for Eurostar, said: “Our direct Avignon summer services grow in popularity year on year and our customers tell us they’d like to see it extended to offer even more choice of holiday destinations.

“By trialling this new service for future years, and by opening sales to our existing annual summer Avignon services earlier than usual, we are giving customers even more flexibility and choice when planning their trips to the South of France next year.”

The trial service will run between May 4 and June 29, 2013.

Return fares for 2013 Lyon and Provence services start from £99 for Lyon and £109 for Avignon and Aix-en-Provencein Standard class and £199 and £249 in Standard Premier respectively.
