Grand Central Terminal’s 100th anniversary is the inspiration behind this year’s annual model train show at the New York Transit Museum.
This year’s model railway features miniature Metro trains departing Grand Central Terminal (GCT), travelling through New York City, and a surrounding countryside scene.
The tribute comes ahead of GCT’s centenary in February 2013.
“This year’s layout is truly a grand design for a grand terminal,” said Gabrielle Shubert, director of the New York Transit Museum.
“The designers at Lionel have done a fantastic job of bringing Grand Central Terminal to life in a way that all of our visitors, both young and old will learn from and marvel at.”
This year’s show includes models of actual train cars that have passed through the terminal in the past 100 years.
