The operators of a proposed luxury train service between Las Vegas and Los Angeles have signed a deal with Rail Enterprises to refurbish the company’s 12-car fleet.

The luxury service, known as the X Train, is scheduled to start in late 2013, with regular services starting the following year.

Features will include comfortable lounge areas and an entertainment car, complete with games tables and a bar.

A single ticket will cost $99, with food and drink included in the price.

Michael Barron, president of the X Train, said: “We are fortunate to be working with Don Primi of Rail Enterprises Inc. for the refurbishment of the X Train cars.

“By selecting Don, we have chosen the leader in the industry and are ensuring that all of our rail cars will be constructed to the highest standards.”

The rail cars will now undergo a complete interior overhaul.

Last year, Las Vegas Railway Express signed a conditional agreement with Union Pacific to allow a passenger service to run on its right of way between Las Vegas and Daggett, California.
