An unexploded WWII bomb has been discovered at a rolling stock depot in the Japanese city of Hamamatsu.
The city’s railway station will be closed on February 17 while the explosive is transported from the workshop to the Enshu-nada coast and disposed of.
The 860kg naval bomb is thought to have been dropped by the U.S. military during WWII.
Hamamatsu was a target for U.S. forces during the conflict because of its extensive transport links and was almost completely destroyed by a strategic bombing campaign in 1945.
Although bomb specialists have said there is no risk of explosion, an evacuation zone will be set up around the Central Japan Railway Company site to remove the device.
The operation will cause disruption to services on the Tokaido Shinkansen and the Tokaido Line.
