BMT has been appointed to provide consultancy work for Hong Kong’s Shatin – Central Link.

BMT Asia Pacific will deliver system assurance and risk management services on the project which once complete, will transform the region’s rail network.

The project, which will be built by Samsung-Hsin Chong Joint Venture (SSHCJV), marks a significant step forward for Hong Kong’s infrastructure and economic development.

Consisting of two sections, Tai Wai to Hung Hom and Hung Hom to Admiralty, the 17 km rail network will help to relieve pressure on the existing railway system and ease road traffic congestion.

Appointed by the MTR Corporation, SSHCJV is responsible for the construction of the tunnels and two railway stations in Kowloon City District.

Dr Jacky Lam, director at BMT Asia Pacific, said: “We’re delighted to be working on such a prestigious project – one which will mark an important milestone for future development of Hong Kong.

“Risks can occur at any point in a system or project and it is essential that they are identified, assessed, monitored and effectively managed throughout the project lifecycle.

“Our specialist team will help the project team to minimise safety and constructability risks associated with the project delivery and design.”
