A consortium led by SNC-Lavalin has been chosen to deliver an $889 million contract to design, build and finance Vancouver’s Evergreen Line.

The $1.4 billion line, which is an extension of the city’s SkyTrain service, will connect Coquitlam to Vancouver, with stops at Port Moody and Burnaby.

EGRT Construction will build the elevated and at-grade guideways, a two-kilometre tunnel, seven stations, power substations, train operating systems and parking facilities, as well as a vehicle-storage and a light maintenance facility.

Construction is expected to begin in February ready for the start of revenue service in summer 2016.

Federal and provincial authorities will fund the majority of the project’s total cost, with operators TransLink contributing $400 million.

The consortium includes SNC-Lavalin, Graham Building Services, International Bridge Technologies, Jacobs Associates Canada Corporation, Rizzani de Eccher, S.E.L.I. Canada, SNC-Lavalin Constructors, SNC-Lavalin Constructors, and MMM Group.
