Bombardier Transportation has appointed Lutz Bertling as its new president and chief operating officer.

Bertling, a president and chief executive officer of Eurocopter Group, will replace André Navarri from June 3. However, Navarri will take on an advisory role for 12 months following his departure in the summer.

Pierre Beaudoin, president and chief executive officer of Bombardier, said: “I am extremely pleased to welcome Lutz Bertling, a leader with a proven track record of managing complexity in organisations with global workforces.

“His wealth of experience and achievements in the transportation and defence industries will reinforce Bombardier Transportation’s leadership position.”

Beaudoin added: “André has been an instrumental part of Bombardier Transportation’s transformation.

“His leadership and stewardship have helped us shape the evolution of mobility and turned Bombardier Transportation into an acknowledged global leader in rail technology.”
