Redhill station plans await decision

A joint venture looking to improve Redhill station as part of a £40 million regeneration scheme have submitted plans to Reigate & Banstead Borough Council.

Solum Regeneration, a collaboration between Network Rail and Kier Property, has set out a programme of improvement for the Surrey railway station, including doubling the size of the ticket office, building a new multi-storey car park and creating a new public square at the station entrance.

The £7 million station redevelopment is part of a wider regeneration of the area, which once complete could see around 150 apartments and a new Waitrose supermarket built around the interchange.

Edward Pearce, development manager at Solum Regeneration, said: “It is widely recognised that the area around Redhill station is in need of investment and improvement.

“This development will radically enhance the station area and create a gateway into the town of which it can be proud and help in regenerating this part of the town centre.”

  1. The bland unimaginative and frankly rather cheap looking development shown in the visualisation above will suit Redhill perfectly.

Perhaps more importantly we should know what the local regeneration will mean for the much needed freight avoiding flyover.
