Work constructing a new public transport hub on Rotterdam’s Marconiplein square has begun.

As well as replacing tram lines around the square, Strukton Rail and Metro BV are delivering a complete redesign of the intersection to improve connectivity between the city’s bus, metro and light rail systems.

Construction work has been delayed by two months because of legal challenge by BAM Construction.

City planners are hoping to see the square completed by late 2013.
