Siemens has been awarded a £3.2 million signalling contract for an extension of Oslo’s Metro (T-bane) network.

Siemens Rail Automation, the company formed after the acquisition of Invensys Rail, will design, supply and install the new system for infrastructure manager Sporveien Oslo AS.

Over the course of 16 months, Siemens will have completed testing of the new system along the final section of the Kolsåsbanen line extension.

Siemens’ project manager Vince Dade said: “Having worked with Sporveien for nearly 20 years, we are delighted to have won this contract, and to be working on the final phase of the KolsÃ¥sbanen line.

“Our established team will be moving on to the project in earnest in July, with commissioning scheduled for October 2014.”
