Kiev Metro has shown off two new trains currently being prepared to enter service this month on the city’s network.

The two five-car sets have been built by Russian rolling stock manufacturer Vahonmash and financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

EBRD approved a loan of 39.6 million euros in 2007 to allow the operators of Kiev Metro to modernise the network’s vehicle fleet.

Officials visited the Obolon depot on August 12 to see the new vehicles and answer questions from local media.
