A newly-established rail research body covering Australia and New Zealand has partnered with the UK’s Rail Safety and Standards Board (RSSB).
Announcing the partnership, the Australasian Centre for Rail Innovation (ACRI) said the agreement would promote the sharing of ‘knowledge and ideas’ for “the betterment of rail across the globe”.
Executive director of ACRI Vicki Brown and deputy chief executive of the UK’s RSSB Anson Jack co-signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the 10th World Congress on Railway Research event in Sydney last week.
“This collaboration will create wonderful opportunities for rail research in both Australia and in the United Kingdom, creating greater efficiencies in the production of research by allowing each party to contribute to each other’s work,” said Brown.
Anson Jack added: “The British and Australasian rail industries have much in common and we have valued the collaboration with the current CRC for Rail Innovation, which we fully expect to develop and deepen under ACRI.”
ACRI will replace the current body, CRC for Rail Innovations, when it finishes next June.
