Operator Stuttgarter Strassenbahnen AG has placed a €73 million order for 20 Tango trams from Stadler Pankow.

The additional S-DT8.12 vehicles are an option from an earlier contract, which was signed in 2010, for which the first trams began operating in the city in autumn 2013.

Stadler will begin delivery of the new vehicles in 2016.

Michael Daum, director of Stadler Pankow, said: “The vehicles are easy to adapt to the existing city centre infrastructure and are ideally suited to the conditions on the Stuttgart tram network.

The S-DT8.12 features dual traction carriages and have a maximum operating speed of 80 km/h.
