The Hungarian city of Miskolc has taken delivery of the first of 31 new trams being built by Å koda.

Built in Plzeň, the light rail vehicle is part of a CZK 2 billion order placed by the city’s transport authority in 2012.

Å koda was awarded the contract ahead of AnsaldoBreda and CAF.

The low-floor bi-directional 26T trams completed testing in December, receiving certification from Hungary’s railway authority shortly after.

As well as the new trams, Å koda will maintain the new fleet for the next 10 years in a deal worth CZK 200 million.
