Costain has been awarded a £75 million contract to electrify the Edinburgh Waverly- Glasgow Queen Street line.
The contract is one component of a £650 million programme of works being delivered along the route as part of the Edinburgh to Glasgow Improvement Plan (EGIP).
The works, which will start in June this year, will comprise electrification of the main Edinburgh-Glasgow route, via Falkirk High, including route clearance works at Winchburgh Tunnel as well as rail infrastructure works at Glasgow Queen Street and Edinburgh Waverley Stations and extensions to intermediate platforms at Croy, Falkirk High, Polmont and Linlithgow.
