Signalling and telecommunications systems at Turkey’s Eskisehir station are to undergo a major upgrade.

Thales has been awarded a €10 million contract from state railway operator Turkish State Railways (TCDD) to install a ETCS Level 1 system at the station, which serves the high-speed Ankara-Istanbul line.

The first phase of the line now operates at high speed, a development which has seen rail traffic increase and the demand for capacity increase at Eskisehir.

Thales has said the project will take a year to complete, having already installed its S&T solutions on more than 400 kilometres of the route.
