London Underground’s Victoria line is now operating 34 trains an hour – ‘the most frequent train service in the UK’.

Peak-time services have been incrementally increasing since the Victoria line upgrade was completed in 2012 from 28 trains an hour to 30, 33 and finally 34.

Passengers now only have to wait two minutes between trains and there are also more trains running the full length of the line from Brixton up to Walthamstow Central.

Phil Hufton, London Underground’s chief operating officer, said: “TfL’s investment programme, which includes new trains and signalling has resulted in more capacity for Victoria and Northern line customers.

“The Victoria line is now operating the most frequent service in the UK with up to 34 trains per hour – less than two minutes between trains in the vital morning and evening rush hours and comparable with any service across Europe.”

The upgrade programme is being delivered over the coming years, with work on upgrades to the Northern, Circle, District, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines all underway.
