CP Carga has described the growth in its business in the past six months as ‘remarkable’.

The freight operator transported 11.7 per cent more goods in 2014 than it did in the same period in 2013 while reducing its operating costs by 4.1 per cent.

The company transported 884,060 million tonnes of cargo in July – its highest-ever monthly volume – and is on target to make 2014 a record-breaking year

Financially, the operator is showing a remarkable resurgence, recording a 50 per cent increase in its EBITDA and a 26.6 per cent rise in its net profit so far in 2014.

Earlier this month, Portugal’s national rail operator CP announced that passenger numbers had also risen in the first half of 2014 in a ‘reversal of the accelerated decline in passenger volumes and revenue’ in recent years.
