ADIF tenders for high-speed ultrasonic testing

ADIF is planning to let a €1.4 million contract to carry out ultrasonic testing on high-speed rail routes around the country.

The contract covers the inspection of track infrastructure in Castilla-La Mancha, Andalusia, Madrid, Castilla y León, Aragon, Catalonia and Valencia regions.

Ultrasonic testing is used to detect defects in the track. The testing programme will allow ADIF to plan maintenance of the infrastructure and prevent accidents and reliability issues.

The contract covers standard gauge routes with both ballasted and slab track infrastructure.

ADIF said the system will need to able to detect flaws in the track with an accuracy equal to or less than 500 mm.
