Swiss rail operator SBB has renewed its mobile and fixed telecommunications contracts for the next five years.
Swisscom will continue to provide fixed and mobile telecommunication services until 2019 – a contract valued at CHF 72.2 million.
Sunrise has been awarded a separate CHF 1.93 million contract to provide the rail network’s internet connection and online SMS service.
Announcing the new contracts, SBB said it is becoming increasingly reliant on mobile telecommunications and expects to halve the number of fixed lines it currently uses over the coming years.
