Network Rail awards £1.6bn regional framework contracts

Network Rail has awarded regional framework contracts worth a combined £1.6 billion to an assortment of rail industry suppliers.

The contracts cover a programme of renewals and enhancements on the London North Western and East Midlands routes over the next five years.

Throughout control period 5 (CP5), Network Rail plans to invest £38 billion improving, repairing and maintaining Britain’s railways.

Network Rail’s infrastructure projects director Rob Offord said: “The awarding of these frameworks represents a significant milestone in the implementation of our new procurement and contracting strategy. This will bring improved safety, whole-life cost efficiency and delivery performance through collaborative relationships with a consolidated and strategically aligned supply chain.”
