CNR bidding for Shanghai metro order

CNR has declared it is bidding to supply 36 new trains for Shanghai Metro Line 9.

The manufacturer is hoping to land the 1.696 billion yuan (€219 million) order for a fleet of new metro trains for the Line 9 Phase III extension.

In 2017, Shanghai Metro hopes to open the eastern extension of Line 9 to Caolu.

Through its joint venture with Bombardier, Changchun Bombardier Railway Vehicles (CBRC), CNR has delivered 306 Movia metro vehicles to Shanghai Line 9 since the first 31-kilometre section opened to passengers in December 2007.
