Ile-de-France Transport Authority, STIF, and RATP have exercised an option for 12 new trains for lines 2, 5 and 9 of the Paris metro system.

The €75 million option is an extension of an original order placed in 2001 with the Alstom/Bombardier AREVA TA consortium.

Alstom said the order will involved the design, development and manufacture of 12 new MF01 trainsets.

The new vehicles will be delivered by 2016.
