St Petersburg has placed an order for three more low-floor trams from Alstom/Transmashholding (TMH) joint venture TramRus.

TramRus is now contracted to supply four trams to the city, with the first set to be delivered by December 1, 2014 and the remaining three expected to arrive before Christmas.

The Russian gauge tram is based on the popular Citadis model and is already being trialled in Moscow.

With a capacity of more than 200 passengers, the new three-section vehicles have almost double the capacity of those in the existing fleet.
