Bombardier has presented the 220th, and last, new Flexity tram for Brussels, giving the city the world’s largest single-vehicle fleet.

Societe des Transports Intercommunaux de Bruxelles (STIB), Brussels’ public transport authority, placed its first order for 46 Flexity Outlook trams in 2003. This has been followed up with several additional options.

The arrival of the 220th vehicle on March 17 gives STIB the largest fleet of a single type of tram in the world. The final unit is part of the latest order for 65 trams, which was signed in 2010.

In total, STIB now operates 70 seven-module trams and 150 five-module vehicles.
