German rail company Deutsche Bahn (DB) and Bombardier have ended a two-year dispute over trains supplied by the Canadian manufacturer.
In a statement the two companies said they had agreed an out-of-court settlement over issues with a number of rolling stock projects in the country.
Among these was a €350 million lawsuit from DB claiming that Bombardier should take responsibility for problems with the S-Bahn Berlin 481 series trains.
Other complaints related to commuter trains in Bavaria North Rhine-Westphalia and Baden-Wurttemberg, and the Talent 2.
Gerd Becht, member of the managing board of Deutsche Bahn, compliance, data protection, legal affairs and corporate security, said: “We have worked intensively in recent months towards a solution to this extremely complex and difficult situation and thus achieved a settlement acceptable to both sides.”
The announcement said the two companies saw the settlement as a step to “creating a new foundation for their business relationship, allowing better collaboration”.
