Braunschweig in Germany’s Lower Saxony region has put its first two new Solaris Tramino trams into passenger service.
Braunschweiger Verkehrs-GmbH, the city’s public transport operator, has ordered 18 uni-directional vehicles from the Polish manufacturer.
On April 13, the first two were formally handed over. The remaining vehicles will join the city’s fleet in the coming months.
The four-car trams have been manufactured to operate on the city’s 1,100 mm narrow gauge tramway. Each unit includes five 90 kW asynchronous traction motors and super capacitors.
