The authority delivering California’s high-speed railway has shortlisted five companies and joint ventures to bid for the project’s fourth construction package.

Construction Package 4, which is valued between $400 and $500 million, covers a 35-kilometre section of the line spanning Tulare and Kern county.

Phase one of California’s first high-speed rail line will connect Los Angeles and San Francisco. The full 1,300-kilometre route could eventually extend the corridor to link to Sacramento in the north and San Diego in the south.

The shortlist includes:

  • California Rail Builders – Ferrovial Agroman US Corp
  • Central Valley Connection Builders – FCC Construccion S.A. and Corsan-Corviam Construccion S.A.
  • Dragados/Flatiron Joint Venture – Dragados USA, Inc. and Flatiron West Inc
  • Salini Impregilo/Security Paving Joint Venture – Salini Impregilo S.p.A. and Security Paving Company, Inc
  • Tutor Perini/Zachry/Parsons a Joint Venture – Tutor Perini Corporation, Zachry Construction Corporation and Parsons Transportation Group Inc.

California High-Speed Rail Authority chief executive Jeff Morales said: “These five teams represent some of the best in the business for delivering California’s high-speed rail program.

“The amount of interest we receive about the high-speed rail program indicates a competitive market and interest from respected industry leaders who want to be a part of construction and delivery of the first high-speed rail system in the nation.”
