Three consortia have prequalified to bid to design and construct the Forrestfield-Airport Link in Perth.

The 8.5-kilometre Forrestfield-Airport Link will branch off the Midland Line at Bayswater Junction, connecting the airport with Perth’s commuter rail network.

The majority of the route will be underground, operating inside 6.2-metre diameter twin-bored tunnels.

The shortlist includes:

  • JHL JV (John Holland and Leighton Contractors)
  • SI-NRW JV (Salini Impregilo and NRW)
  • Forrestfield Connect (ACCIONA Infrastructure, BAM International and Ferrovial Agroman).

Transport Minister Dean Nalder said: “The level of interest in designing and constructing this transformational rail line to Perth’s foothills via the Perth Airport has been high.”

The design/build contract will be awarded in mid-2016, with construction scheduled to start later that year and the line due to open in 2020.
