Stadler has received its first order for bi-modal FLIRT trainsets.

The Swiss manufacturer will supply Italy’s Valle d’Aosta Region in the north west of the country with five BMU sets in an order worth €43 million.

The new three-car trains will operate interregional services between Aosta and Torino under both 3 kVDC catenary and diesel power.

Stadler will deliver the new trains in 2018.

The order includes a five-year maintenance contract and an option for five additional train sets.
