Mumbai Metro has celebrated its first anniversary, transporting 100 million passengers in its first 12 months in operation.

Commissioned on June 8, 2014, Line 1, which is operated and maintained by Transdev and RATP Dev, is Mumbai’s first rapid mass transit line.

The 12-kilometre line connects the east and west of the city. Plans for two more lines are currently being developed, which would take the city’s metro network to 90 kilometres.

On average, 260,000 passengers travel on the metro network each day.
