A Parsons Brinckerhoff-led team has been awarded a $700 million contract to act as the Rail Delivery Partner (RDP) for California’s high-speed rail project.
Following a decision by the California High-Speed Rail Authority’s board of directors, negotiations to finalise the terms of the contract will now begin.
The contract will run until 2022.
The delivery team also includes Network Rail Consulting and LeighFisher.
Chief executive Jeff Morales said: “Today’s action reflects a new area of emphasis for us, as we move forward with construction and focus towards planning and implementation of operations.”
Phase one of California’s first high-speed rail line will connect Los Angeles and San Francisco.
In the future, the state hopes to build an 800-mile route linking the Californian capital, Sacramento, in the north and San Diego in the south.
The RDP will replace the existing Project Management Team. A pre-qualification process began in January, with bids coming in from PB and Bechtel.
