The Fort Worth Transportation Authority (The T) has held a formal signing ceremony with manufacturer Stadler, confirming an order for eight new diesel multiple units (DMU) for TEX Rail.
From 2018, the trains will operate services on the new 43.5-kilometre TEX Rail commuter line, which will connect downtown Fort Worth with the city of Grapevine and DFW Airport’s Terminal B.
Stadler president Peter Spuhler, T board chairman Scott Mahaffey and The T president Paul Ballard signed the agreement on June 9 at the Intermodal Transportation Center (ITC).
The procurement competition for the new commuter trains began in 2014. The authority’s board approved Stadler as the preferred supplier for the contract in April.
