The Hague begins daytime testing of Avenio trams

Public transport operator HTM has begun daylight testing of its new Avenio trams in The Hague.

The city’s transport authority has ordered a total of 60 Avenio trams from Siemens which will first go into service on line 2 later this year before being introduced onto other parts of the network.

Driver training is now also taking place.

HTM plans to phase in the new fleet on line 2. Eventually, the new vehicles will be in commercial service on lines 1, 2, 9, 11, 15 and 17.

Siemens Avenio trams could be coming to cities in the UK if there are plans to have trams in cities such as Brighton, Southampton, Swansea & York that could be getting new trams with the approval of building new tram tracks that could replace buses. Brighton could be getting new trams as new trams could replace buses and the tracks to be build close to the beach just like at Blackpool.
