Hyundai Rotem is to deliver the first new trains for the North South Corridor of the Shatin to Central Link (SCL) in September.
The first batch from an order for 37 trains will arrive in Hong Kong from South Korea next month.
Dynamic testing will be carried out at night across the network.
To accommodate the new trains, which are wider than the current fleet of EAL trains, work is underway to adjust platform edges along the length of the East Rail Line.
The programme of works is being supported by a publicity campaign, warning passengers about the change in platform width at stations.
