Bombardier has delivered Berlin’s 100th Flexity tram to transport authority BVG.

BVG has ordered a total of 142 light rail vehicles from Bombardier and held a special ceremony to celebrate the official hand over of the 100th tram.

Dr Lutz Bertling, president and chief operating office of Bombardier Transportation, said: “2015 is a year of anniversaries for BVG. In June, we jointly celebrated 150 years of trams in Berlin and are today handing over the 100th FLEXITY to BVG.

“With the largest tram network in Germany, Berlin is a city with a rich tram tradition. Bombardier is proud to be a part of this tradition, since all BVG trams for the past 20 years have come from our factory.”

BVG ordered four pre-series trams in 2008. The first vehicle went into full passenger service in September 2011.
