Alstom has completed a deal to acquire Swedish rolling stock refurbishment and maintenance company Motala Train AB.
Motala Train employs 73 people, who are divided between Motala and Västeras, and has an annual turnover of around €15 million.
The company carry out rolling stock refurbishment and heavy maintenance works, as well as crash damage repairs.
Per Öster, managing director Nordics, said: “The Swedish railway market has shown strong growth over the last decade, generating broad opportunities not only for trains but also for associated services.
“To be closer to its customers, Alstom has decided to further invest in the country. We know we can rely on a highly skilled workforce here in Motala to execute the current contracts and seize the new opportunities to come.”
Alstom has sold more than 300 regional trains in Sweden and already maintains 135 Stockholm commuter trains.
