Ansaldo STS and Linbrooke Servers have been awarded a £34.5 million contract to resignal 56 kilometres of railway in the East Riding of Yorkshire between Ferriby and Gilberdyke.

In a statement, Linbrooke said work would begin this month, with final commissioning scheduled for March 2018.

Computer based interlocking (CBI) technology, which has previously been installed on HS1 and the Cambrian Lines, will be introduced on to the route.

Ansaldo STS, which is leading the consortium, will design and supply the CBI system. Ansaldo will also design, supply and integrate the axle counter system.

Linbrooke will “deliver the signalling and power construction works, the telecommunications system design and construction and will be the overall UK Tester in Charge”.
