L.K. Comstock & Company, a subsidiary of RailWorks Corporation, is to install the new CBTC signalling system for New York’s Queens Boulevard Line.

L.K. Comstock will both install the new system and upgrade the existing system on the line, which connects Queens and Manhattan, as part of the $223.3 million contract.

The hardware itself is being supplied by Siemens and Thales. However, L.K. Comstock will install the new CBTC system and optical fibre comms network.

New signal rooms will be built and existing ones modified as part of the project.

Moving block CBTC systems are already in use on the Flushing Line and the Canarsie Line. The Queens Boulevard Line system will go live in 2021.

RailWorks Transit will carry out associated track and civil works.
