Tender documents for the design and construction of the tunnels and stations for Auckland’s City Rail Link (CRL) have been issued.

The tender represents the project’s largest construction element. It includes both the 3.4 km twin-bore tunnels and two new underground stations near Aotea Square and Mercury Lane.

CRL will extend the city’s commuter rail network from the existing Britomart station to Mount Eden. As a result, Britomart will become a through station which will increase capacity and the frequency of services across the network.

Last week, expressions of interest were sought for the design, procurement, installation and commissioning of the track infrastructure and systems between Britomart Station and the Western Line at Mt Eden.
