Florida’s Brightline has said it plans to formally launch the new intercity service in September.

A trial service will begin between West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale in late July. This will be followed by a Miami service at the end of August and the full official launch in September.

The announcement on March 10 included a photo of BrightPink –  the second Brightline trainset to be completed – on its journey from the Siemens factory in Sacramento to the Brightline operations centre in West Palm Beach, Florida. The final three trains will be delivered by May.

Infrastructure work along the route is now 80 per cent complete and the new stations in Miami, West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale are all nearing completion.

Phase 2 of the project will extend services to Orlando.
