The first new NS Sprinter train from CAF has left the manufacturer’s factory in Spain to begin testing on the Velim test track in the Czech Republic.

Following testing in Velim, the next-generation Sprinter EMU will undergo climatic testing in Vienna before final testing and commissioning in the Netherlands.

CAF is building 118 Sprinter units for Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS) altogether. The first are due to go into service in 2018.

The Civity trains will be supplied as three, four and six-car units.
