Stockholm public transit company SL has renewed Arriva Sweden AB’s contract to run suburban and light rail services in the city.
The deal is a four-year extension of an initial agreement and covers ‘block 1’ – the Saltsjöbanan commuter line, and Tvärbanan and Nockebybanan tram lines – and ‘block 2’ – the narrow-gauge Roslagsbanan commuter railway system.
Johan Åhlander, chief executive of Arriva Sweden AB, said [in Swedish]: “We note that SL writes that our supply of block 1 is stable and that they see a positive trend in how we meet those objectives.
“It is also positive that SL think we have improved the quality of our delivery regarding, among other things, customer satisfaction and development of travel for Roslagsbanan.”
Major changes taking place in the coming years on Roslagsbanan, including doubling the track and building a new depot, was one of the reasons that prompted the new tender for block 2.
