Railway Children supports ‘Change the story’ campaign

Listen to this article

A campaign backed by Railway Children and Aviva is calling on the government to increase the protection of children living on our streets.

The campaign, Change the story, aims to meet the immediate needs of children living on the streets and change the public’s perception of UK street children.

Railway Children’s 16 years of devotion to vulnerable children living alone and at risk on the street is backed up by Aviva’s commitment to making a difference in communities through the Street to School programme.

An estimated 1 in 9 children will run away from home or care before they’re 16; forced to leave because of violence, substance abuse and parental neglect. Whether you’re a parent or just someone who wants to make a difference, they need your help.

Change the story is about making a difference for the children at risk on UK streets by raising awareness of the issues and encouraging change.

Change the story want to persuade the government to commit more resources for those children at risk, ensuring they have somewhere and someone to run to, where they’re not at risk.

The campaign needs 100,000 signatures so they can start influencing the policy makers.
