Bank holiday weekend rail travel update

Listen to this article

First Capital Connect has said it is running services as normal between London and Luton Airport Parkway for Luton Airport this bank holiday weekend.

However, chartered buses will replace trains between Bedford and Flitwick all day on Sunday and Monday, 28 and 29 August, when there are also no services between Streatham and Sutton via Wimbledon (tickets in this case will be valid on local buses).

On these two days, Sunday and Monday, 28 and 29 August, East Midlands Trains will not be calling at Bedford southbound and northbound will stop at Bedford only to pick up passengers.

On Sunday 28 August, until 2pm East Midlands Trains will be running only as far south as Luton Airport Parkway.

Passengers are advised to take First Capital Connect services from Luton Airport Parkway, which will be lengthened where necessary to increase capacity.

The Thameslink route is also closed across central London on all three days for Thameslink Programme engineering work and the Northern line (Bank branch) is closed on these days.
