More seats on ScotRail trains into Glasgow

Commuters who travel into Glasgow from Larkhall, Motherwell, Lanark, Dalmuir or Milngavie will find more seats on their morning trains from Monday 5 September.

ScotRail is adding extra carriages – some 400 seats – as the final phase of a ‘cascade’ of rolling stock in the West of Scotland sparked by the introduction of 38 new electric trains in Ayrshire, Inverclyde and Renfrewshire earlier this year.

Steve Montgomery, ScotRail’s managing director, said:

“This means we have added 1,100 seats to commuter trains between Dalmuir/Milngavie and Lanarkshire since May.

“Demand for rail travel continues to grow and our priority is to deliver more trains and more seats where they are needed most.”

John Pentland, MSP for Motherwell and Wishaw, added: “Any increase in rail capacity that encourages people to leave their cars at home and take the train is to be welcomed.”
