Proposals for new station at Energlyn to be unveiled

Network Rail Wales is ‘inviting the community at Energlyn to join them at a public exhibition to find out more about a proposal to build a new station’.

Developed on behalf of the Welsh Government and backed by Caerphilly County Borough Council and SEWTA, the proposal aims to deliver a two-platform station at Energlyn to serve trains to and from Cardiff.

Residents of north Caerphilly were ‘promised a station’ at Energlyn back in January 2001 but the Welsh Assembly Government said the long-awaited station was deferred ‘because of spending cuts imposed by the UK Government’.

The drop-in event will be held on 9 February 2012, from 1600 – 2000 at:

Plasyfelin Primary School, Lewis Drive, Churchill Park, Caerphilly, CF83 3FT.

It will provide an ‘opportunity for the community to share their feedback on the proposed work and speak to representatives from Network Rail and Arriva Trains Wales’.

Public who are unable to attend and wish to find out more may also contact Network Rail’s 24/7 Helpline on 0845 711 4141.
