DMRC sign MoU for Faridabad metro extension

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Government of Haryana for extension of Metro Corridor from Badarpur to Faridabad (YMCA) recently.

The MoU was signed by S S Dhillon, IAS, Financial Commissioner & Principal Secretary to Government of Haryana, Town and Country Planning Department and Kumar Keshav, Director (Project & Planning)/DMRC.

The 13.87 km fully elevated corridor will be a standard gauge corridor of 1435 mm with 9 metro stations. The stations Sarai, NHPC Chowk, Mewala Maharajpur, Sector -27 A, Badkal Mor, Old Faridabad, Ajronda, Faridabad New Town & YMCA Chowk.

This route will be an extension of the presently operational Line 6 of the Delhi Metro’s 20.16 kilometers long Central Secretariat – Badarpur corridor.

The total cost of the project will be $482 million (Rs 2494 crore) which includes the cost of the land.

Haryana Government will invest $295 million (Rs 1472.4 crore) (excluding the cost of land), Government of India will fund $107 million (Rs 536.6 crore) and DMRC will invest $ 80 million (Rs 400 crore) on rolling stock.

Land for the construction of this project will be provided free of cost by Haryana Government to DMRC on lease basis.

According to the Detailed Project Report (DPR), the daily ridership of this metro corridor is expected to be 214,000 by the end of 2014 after commissioning of the corridor for the public.
