PHS Besafe makes a stand against illegal rail PPE

Tony McGovern, Commercial Manager at PHS is making a stand against counterfeit, non-conformance and illegal personal equipment at Infrarail this year in a bid to ‘ensure rail workers are given the best possible protection during their demanding and often potentially dangerous working day’.

Tony McGovern said:

“These are hard economic times for everyone in the industry but I urge the industry to not support and shut out those who aren’t supplying genuine and legal products.

“With quality comes durability, comfort and safety which requires a long term view in order to make economic savings with no risk to worker protection.

“When poorer quality products from unknown suppliers and manufacturers are offered at a ‘too good to be true’ price – it simply means that – it’s a step towards supporting false and fake procurement with potentially damaging and dangerous results for end users.”

The PHS Besafe Garment and Laundry specialist team will be on stand L50 to impart their knowledge and expertise relating to Rail PPE requirements and the EN, ISO and GO/RT standardisation processes which helps protect and govern the industry.

The team will be demonstrating during the exhibition their Bright:Gear, Flame:Gear and new Arc:Gear which utilizes GORE-TEX® Product Technology.

Through its garment purchasing or leasing and managed professional laundry managed service PHS’s sustainability program can maximise the life of high visibility protective clothing.

  1. Price shopping when it comes to PPE isn’t a good idea.  PPE laws are enforced because PPE helps keep workers safe.  If safety apparel is cheap, it probably is of low quality and won’t be as effective in preventing accidents or injury.
